1. About Us
Happy Pawn Chess Club is operated by Sébastien Ferrand, based in Bangkok, Thailand. By booking a lesson, camp, or tournament, or by using our website, you agree to these terms.
2. Services
We offer chess tuition for children aged 3–14, including:
- Private and group lessons (in-home, venue, or online)
- Chess camps and holiday programmes
- Rated and unrated tournaments
- School partnerships and after-school clubs
3. Enrolment and Parental Consent
All students must be enrolled by a parent or legal guardian. By enrolling a child, the parent or guardian confirms they have authority to do so and accepts these terms on behalf of the child.
4. Fees and Payment
Fees are quoted per lesson, per package, or per event and communicated at the time of booking. Payment is due before the first lesson of each month, or as otherwise agreed in writing. We reserve the right to pause lessons if fees remain unpaid for more than 7 days.
Tournament and camp fees are non-refundable once the event has commenced.
5. Cancellations and Rescheduling
Please give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a lesson. Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed without notice, will be charged in full. We will offer a make-up lesson where operationally possible, but this is not guaranteed.
If we need to cancel a lesson, we will notify you as soon as possible and offer a make-up session or a credit toward a future lesson.
6. Code of Conduct
We expect all students, parents, and guardians to treat teachers and fellow students with respect. Abusive, disruptive, or discriminatory behaviour — whether in person or online — may result in immediate suspension or termination of enrolment without refund of unused fees.
7. Photography and Media
We may photograph or film lessons, camps, and tournaments for use on our website and social media. If you do not consent, please notify us in writing before the event. We will never publicly identify children by their full legal name in any media we publish.
8. Intellectual Property
All teaching materials, course content, software, and branding produced by Happy Pawn Chess Club remain our intellectual property. You may not reproduce, distribute, or resell them without prior written consent.
9. Limitation of Liability
We take reasonable care to provide a safe, high-quality learning environment. However, we are not liable for loss, damage, or injury arising from events outside our reasonable control. Our total liability in any circumstance is limited to the fees paid for the affected lesson or event.
10. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand, including the Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (PDPA) where applicable. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Bangkok.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to registered families by email at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of our services after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
